Who does Harshani work with?

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with individuals, couples, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds. My extensive experience in various fields, including school based counselling, domestic and family violence, youth work, and trauma counselling, has been instrumental in shaping my professional growth and development.

My time at Lifeline Australia has provided me with invaluable insights into the myriad challenges that people face in today’s complex world. I am deeply committed to offering compassionate support to individuals on their healing journeys.

Over the span of 19 years, I have dedicated myself to this immensely rewarding career, consistently expanding my knowledge and honing my skills to ensure that I can provide you with the highest level of support possible.

Tell me a bit about Harshani

Hello and welcome! I’m Harshani, a registered clinical counsellor and psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals, couples, families and professionals unlock their full potential and embark on a journey of self discovery and healing. My focus lies in providing specialised support in areas such as complex trauma, attachment trauma, and dissociation. I am committed to continuous growth and advanced training to ensure my clients’ highest level of care.

In my practice, I primarily utilise a range of therapeutic methods including EMDR therapy and Gottman couples therapy, which have proven to be highly effective in facilitating positive change and healing. Additionally, I integrate various therapeutic modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), resource therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based approaches to create a tailored treatment plan for each individual.

My rich experience and cultural knowledge allows me to offer valuable support to new migrants and families, aiding them in a seamless transition to their new cultural environment.

Outside of my professional life, I cherish spending quality time with my two wonderful teenage children and my supportive husband.

As an ACA level 4 counsellor, I provide clinical supervision to other counsellors and social workers looking to deepen their practice in a culturally responsive and clinically sound fashion. I offer supervision online on Mondays and Tuesdays.
